What is the Role of the Image of Nursing Committee?Established in 1993, the goal of the Image of Nursing program is to dispel any misconceptions the public may have and the profession of nursing by re-educating them; educating nursing students on how to project a positive image of nursing; and help students understand the meaning of professionalism.
Meet Lauren Tickner:
Hi, NSNA! My name is Lauren Tickner and I am the Imprint Editor and Chair of the Image of Nursing. I am so grateful and excited for this new opportunity! I am originally from San Diego, California. I currently reside in Ventura County where I attend California State University Channel Islands, with a projected graduation date of May 2026. On campus, I am involved in our school’s Student Nurses’ Association (SNA.) I previously held the position of Education Representative for the ‘23-’24 school year, and will serve as Communication Chair next year! I am very involved in our school’s chapter and local community happenings, and I am excited to bring my new skills and knowledge to the NSNA Board of Directors. I have always had a passion for nursing because of the interpersonal connections we form with both the patients and medical community, and the constant ability to learn and challenge ourselves with new knowledge and skills! Following graduation, I plan to pursue a degree in Advanced Practice Nursing, with a goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiac health. As the Imprint Editor and Chair of the Image of Nursing, I hope to utilize effective communication and highlight connections among nursing students across the nation. As I mentioned, I love the nursing profession because of the ability to make connections with our peers. I feel the Imprint is a wonderful platform to bring nursing students closer together and to facilitate the transition into the nursing profession. I plan to continue to grow our social media platforms to reach and connect with students in a fun and educational way. When I am not studying or spending time at my current clinical rotation, I work part time as a physical therapy aide. I am very passionate about health and wellness and love that the nursing profession and physical therapy allow me to help educate others and influence positive and healthy lifestyles. In my free time, I am often going to the beach or spending time with friends, family, and my dog. I look forward to connecting with you all, and hope that the Imprint can bring us closer.
