Strengthen Student Engagement Through NSNA Membership
Have you considered including National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) membership dues as part of your school's student activity or tuition fees?
In a recent faculty survey, NSNA asked whether schools would be interested in enrolling all nursing students in NSNA. Thirty-nine percent of respondents indicated they would welcome this option. In response, NSNA is offering schools the opportunity to participate in the Total School Membership Plan.
How the Plan Works
Schools that choose to enroll all eligible nursing students in NSNA will:
- Develop a process to collect national and applicable state dues from students and submit payment to NSNA by check or credit card.
- Ensure that students who are already NSNA members receive the appropriate refund or credit for their current membership.
- Provide students with a clear and accessible opt-out process, as NSNA membership must always remain voluntary.
- Whenever possible, establish a process to assist students who wish to join but face financial hardship, such as through a scholarship, special fund, or service exchange opportunity.
- Submit a report from the dean/director or faculty advisor with the dues payment that includes:
- Total number of students enrolled in the nursing program
- Number of students enrolled in NSNA
- Number of students who chose to opt out of membership
Important: NSNA membership cannot be mandatory. Every participating school must provide students with the opportunity to decline membership.
Special Membership Rate
As an added benefit, schools participating in the Total School Membership Plan will receive a discounted national membership dues rate of $25.00 for both new and renewing members. Applicable state dues remain unchanged and will continue to be collected in addition to the national dues.
